Mustang+EMG SA

Hello everyone, I just had a crazy idea of putting EMG active pickups into my reissue mustang. Does it worth it, or Im just going to end up screwing up an awesome guitar? And also i'm kinda curious if it is going to be possible to leave the original pickup switching with them.

Dont do it! I had EMGs in one of my guitars and the only way it sounded good was with distortion. The cleans sounded crappy. EMGs in my opinion are only good for metal. A mustang was not meant to play metal. Dont do it! If you want a different pickup that is versatile try a jb.

Yeah, haha, I tried asking different people about it, and only one of them said it won't be a bad idea. Well, thank you, I won't do it. And thanks for the advice with the other pups.

Get the duncan antiquities they are amazing i have them in my mustang and they rock.

Well, I'm actually looking for a bit more warmth and a bit more output, but still I want it to have true clean single coil sound. The EMG's were just kinda a random thing I guess, I just tried a Gilmour signature strat, and it sounded pretty cool, but I realized that active pickups will take away all those tone options of Mustang, so I won't put them in for sure, and thankyou for talking me out of that idea=). And what about Lindy Fralin pickups? They were getting pretty good reviews, and they are sold in sets for mustang, never heard them though.

ive played them on a strat before but not a mustang but they sounded good there pretty high end pickups so there gunna sound good you know but if you want the true mustang tone the best thing would be to find some vintage 60s mustang pups on ebay.
