phaeton I noticed an odd thing not long ago, when muting on the neck you get a clicky plucky sound right? but when you do it over the 12th fret you get a bit of note sound, likewise you get the same but dull and chuggy over the 1st.However on closer inspection its more on the 13th fret, A) what causes this sound to occur? and 😎 is my intonation out a bit?
phaeton But why does it occur in those two spots? i figured the 12th was to do with it being the middle of the scale with equal an balance of resonance on either side and the 1st was cause you are taking the nut out of the equation.
Cody_Zairah i like to hit 'em on the first 3-4 strings, most often on the 5th fret and bend the $#*! out of 'em. almost sounds like mutiple pinched harmonics. kinda neat little trick when your playing style is sloppy at best and you want something dramatic haha. has a really odd feel to it though, bending natural harmonics. it screams on a cranked marshall, so i enjoy it. 😉
phaeton i know what you mean, i can't do pinch harmonics but i shred with 3rd and 5th and open on the D string then bend as far as i can and it does sound great, 3rd low E is fun too

Cody_Zairah i can do do pinched harmonics, but i do 'em funny haha. instead of using my thumb on the string, i literally pinch it with my index finger. gives it the same sound, but its more comfortable and i find it personally more reliable.
tragictravisty yeah, 0,5,7,9,12 are called natural harmonics - they are actually notes, however, unnatural harmonics are available at every fret-it's hard to tell what note they actually are though, so i dont use them much (unless im having a feedbacky noisefest)
