Hey guys, been reading on this board for a while but I've finally caved in and found myself compelled to join the discussion!
I'm a blues guitar player (aren't we all?) and just recently bought myself a Jaguar HH to go with my two other guitars. I've been in love with Jaguars for a long time and really found myself drawn to the HH just to move away from some of the consistent problems that seem to persist with the standard Jag.
But (there's always a catch dammit!), I've been really struggling to find the right tone with this guitar since the day I plugged her into my amp. She's just a shallow girl: Looks great on the outside, but has no real substance and personality inside. And a lot of it, I can hear, comes from these lame Dragster pickups that can't seem to find a solid middle-ground to groove in, but kinda slip and slide all over the place when I'm playing. So I find myself at a tone-crossroads.
Do I replace the Dragsters with some sort of sexier Humbucker or do I go back to the core of the Jaguar tone and put in some single-coil pickups and just buy a new pickguard? Basically I'm trying to feel this situation out as best I can and get suggestions for both types of pickups. I've been looking at some bgpup p90s in the single-coil mindset, but again, I'm a sponge for pickup information both in the humbucker and single-coil sense. I want to know what's out there that's going to make my lady grow up and stop acting like such a hussie.
