JamesJ okay how the hell do you pop the springs out, what size washers should i use, and what keeps the washers from falling off the posts into the cavities below?
nirvana23freak use pliers to get the springs off, it might not be easy. i think i used quarter or an inch washers on mine, and when you take yours apart you will see what holds them in place, you have to reverse it or put washers on top to leave space for the strings to go underneath
JamesJ ok got the springs off, ( what a b**ch), flipped the tailpiece, put a 1/4'' washer on each post, and installed a tune-o-matic, not bad for a days work.
JamesJ i must have sat there for like an hour trying to get those springs off the post with regular pliers, and needle nose.
nirvana23freak the springs are a bitch. but it really depends on the guitar, i did this on my JS and stang and one of them was easy to get off because the loop that held it to the post wasnt at tight, but the other one was a bitch cuz it was hard to get the pliers to the point where i could pull it off
nirvana23freak no, the tom change didnt bother me, my mustang has a thin pick in it, but it barely makes a difference
JamesJ i might try the back of a notepad to see if i like it, as it is now, its not really as bad as everyone made it out to be.
nirvana23freak i was messing with the shimming on my mustang because one of the wires came loose so i had the neck off, dont put too much, i put in some piece the back of a notebook i cut out and folded it once, way to high, every fret buzzed.
