Well I've got it back again, again and its almost completely playable this time.
Just thought I'd share it with you seeing as this is a jag forum and for pretty much the whole time ive been here I've not had one.
Anyway, now I'll give you the genesis of my jag (this is the short version as it omits all the balls ups and stupid mistakes Ive made in aquiring all the parts)
It's a 2002 CIJ jaguar body I bought on ebay long before I was even planning on taking up this project (I learned fast that jag bodies are not common) with all original hardware fitted with a '67 Mustang neck thats been totally refretted with medium jumbos, plained down so it doesn't look like the surface of a rosewood moon and a graphtech nut.
The neck didn't fit the pocket by 0.9mm and so has a slither of mahogany down the left side and the low E string sits a little closer to the edge than normal and the high E is in a bit but its no bother.
I thought I should have had a blank nut cut a little off to the other side but I don't think that would have made a difference.
I've had two string trees put on and had the headstock rebored for 10mm bolt on tuners, I put on a set of skull headed ones, now the head screw has come out of one and won't screw back in, ive had to take off the two washers to get it back in, weird.
The neck plate is a Fender corona california one.
The trem arm is a replacement and the bridge is a mustang reissue, though I may experiment with a TOM.
I left the neck pickup in cause I rather like it but put a kent armstrong hotrail in the bridge which i'm not totally jazzed with, I'm thinking a texas special or a dimarzio area '58 or something like that may be more suited to the jag but I'm not done trying it out yet.
The knobs have been replaced with Q parts chrome ufo ones with red and green abalone heads on the tone and volume respectively, although the green really stands out and doesnt look good, so maybe i'll put tort head tower knobs on.
The tone knob has been coil tapped with a pull push cause the tech thought I asked him to fit it to the jag after I asked about the pots when talking about my les paul so he didnt charge me for fitting it.
The pickguard is a s h i t t y bright red jap one which ive been searching in vain for one I'd like to replace it with but I may have one cut for it in 'baltic amber' from pickguard heaven.
erm...I think thats it.
the 3rd fret is too low on either side and buzzes alot, in fact the high e doesnt sound at all so i'll take it back and have the bugs worked out of it, also i think he cut the A slot too low in the nut but that doesnt seem to cause any issues.
