pedal that can boogie?

hi guys,

i wanted to know if anyone has a bit of info distortion pedal wise: I just got a mesa express 2x12 5:50 recently, and whilst its great, there isn't all that much gain (not nearly as much as the F-series, for example)...this isn't a massive problem, but a band I might be joining has quite a modern post-hardcore sound (like hell is for heroes, hey mercedes, oceansize etc), a dual rec or somthing would be perfect but obviously that can't happen, so I was thinking somthing like a boss MD-2 mega distortion or something similar? something that does a good mesa rec impression for cheap! answers on a postcard...

well first what kind of guitar do you use and single coil pups or humbuckers?

well allsorts, i have a strat, a jazzmaster with custom p90s and a les paul special with humbuckers, but thats not the point, I know how to get heavy OD and distortion, I just need a pedal that has that rectifier-ish modern high-gain sound, rather than having an actual

I played one of those last week, it was great! I have a friend who has tried every expensive gain pedal on the market and this is his latest conquest, he even sold a zvex box-of-rock for it...hes still not happy though. I think might be a bit too much both cash and options-wise for me though, i just need a one-trick pony that I can pick up off the 'bay for

I dont know if it helps but I run 2 diffrent distoration pedals. A Digitech Metal Master for my Anthrax/Slayer sounding crave. And a Boss DS-1 for everything else, I wanted the Turbo version of this pedal but I was tight on cash and for the price it was the way to go. I have buddy who's in a metal/hardcore band he uses 2 pedals also a Boss Metal Zone and a Boss Overdrive. There sound ranges from melodic symothany's to straight metal thrash, he use's a Peavy 5150 amp. So obvisouly his sound is alot better than my Fender Deluxe 112.

try the sansamp tech 21 california or maybe its the classic california... something like that, its modelled after mesa boogies. it'll run you like 180 tho
