There was a debate in a newspaper here in Oz that using "gay" to describe something bad is ignorant and bigoted. Not true, it's just a word.

I wrote back saying that if someone describes something good as being "sick" (which we do here, not sure about other countries), is that an insult to people who are unwell??

The debate ended 😀

Incidentally, 'gay' is used round here by teenagers to mean 'rubbish', whatever else it means, and I took it to mean that in this context (although its a long time since I was a teenager).......but I think its a great name. Going to see them next week in Leeds, am looking forward to some sparkly green Jag action.......

the origin of the slang term arises from homosexuality, and saying that les pauls are 'gay' is saying that they are homosexual, yet the person who said it meant it as an insult. therefore, homosexuality is a negative thing.

And the difference between gay and sick is that sick people dont get spit on, beaten up, and looked down on for being sick.

As a Guitarist the is quintessential Jazzmaster master is Thurston Moore. His deranged "Jazz-Blasters" are iconic.

As a songwriter who happens to use Jazzers: Thom York. Radiohead are just beyond (I'm such a fan that I even bought In Rainbows after i downloaded it) .

Actually, Thurstson's Jazzmasters are basically stock, less the tone and excess circuitry (the stuff on the top of the neck PUP)

Lee Ranaldo is the Jazzblaster guy. Thats a Jazzmaster, similar to Thurston's, but with Tele Deleuxe PUPs...

Being a true SY nerd the greatest day of my life was thurston replying to me from on stage at one of their smaller shows a few years back: (maybe murray street tour)

near the end of the set it got quite & thurston asks if there are any requests. I scream "I wanna be yr dog" to which he says they dont remember that one. It gets quite again so I scream out "I wanna be Kim's dog" and Thurston goes "let's not sexuallize the war on terror" and ripps into "schizophrenia"
