Getting a Jazzmaster

I'm thinking of getting a jazzmaster, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get a new one $$$$ What would be a good price to pay for a used one? any recommendations?

I know many people are getting the japanese models because they are cheaper, but where could I order one? any websites?

I'd say check out ebay . I got mine on there for $850 with a hard shell case and an extra pick guard

This may be a stupid question, but anyway, would a jazzmaster pickguard fit a jaguar without any problems? I'm asking because theres someone selling a jag body and I thought that maybe I could assemble a shortscale jazzmaster, and wire it as such. is this even possible? Besides probably having to do some routing to fit the jazz pups, would I encounter any other problems?

the two guards won't match up at all, mainly becuz of the fact that they have two completely different pickup setups, and also the different scale length , and a jazzybody and jag body are slighty different in size and shape.

The Jazzmaster bridge is further back as well.

The cheapest solution would be to have a custom full scratchplate made Jaguar size routed for Jazzmaster pickups.

For the sake of the pickups though it seems like a lot of hassle. You'd probably spend more money in the long run than buying a second hand Jazzy or Jag.
