Super distortion, but that isn't the secret to the Nirvana sound, there isn't one, he had a bunch of things running from his guitar so whatever, good luck.

JB or super distortion. the pick up wont make yo uhave the nirvana tone. AMP is where its at. gotta have the settings. Boost the mids!
