1967 Jaguar all Original whats it worth ?

My neighbor has an all original 1967 Jaguar. I am thinking of buying my first Fender. It is in very good condition. Any idea if it is worth the $2000 he is asking?

Not sure if this ads or detracts from value....it is sighned by Chet Atkins!

Really appreciate any and all input....if i dont move quick ...he is putting it on ebay!!

first off, is this your first guitar or first fender... cuz 2000 is a bit much to pay for your first guitar.

as for the whole chet atkins thing proceed with caution. unless the seller has pics of chet actually signing the guitar, consider it fake.

yeah, even if it's your first guitar and you end up never, ever playing it, you should buy it for 2k. if nothing else, you can turn around and sell it for double that (if it's in great condition).

not unless it's a great custom colour, it's way into the CBS years.

$2k sounds good though, I'd go for it, though it sure isn't worth that as a player.

here's a '63 that's pretty banged up still going for $2500. it's not trashed, but if it were clean, i'd see going for 4 grand.

ya sunburst...he is the 3rd owner. not sure about photo w/ chet signing it... but i would think either way that takes away from the value no?

yeah, of course they're good players. but what you've got to consider is that the nut might be ground down, the frets might be worn. does it need refrets and a new nut? are the pickups a bit weak with age? are the pots a bit scratchy nowaday? have the saddles and intonation screws rusted together after years of sweat being poured onto them? are the gears on the tuners worn out? etc

value drops big time past 65 though.

just played it....and my buddy and i had a good look at it...as far as you can without taking it apart!

it is a REAL player....and in great shape. what we could see.... very underplayed.

He is the 3rd owner....and has played it very little.

comes with the original case also.

Funny sidenote... signed by Chet Atkins...and under the name he puts

CGP.... for Certified Guitar Player... or Country Guitar Player... my buddy says he has heard both stories.

Also did have pics of Chet signing it....he hopes he could find them!

$1800? d00d. it's no longer even a question anymore. new ones go for $1400. this one is almost 40 years old, in great shape, and signed by the late, great chet atkins? 4k or not, you must buy this.
