MIM and MIJ (CIJ)

I'm no guitar expert, but atleast I have understood that an American re-issue are "the best re-issues in the world." Yeah... So I was just thinking, what's the main difference between a Japanese and a Mexican re-issued Jag? I'm especially thinking of the new Classic Player ones that is made in Mexico compared to the CIJ jags.

The Jap model is loosely a vintage reissue, the MIM model is'nt.

The MIM models have a few changes that is more suited to modern day playing, like a flatter fretboard, larger frets and the trem is closer to the bridge which i assume is to cut out the need for a buzz stop and solve a lot of bridge issues.

To me, it sounds like there's no point in buying a CIJ then, or what? If the MIM fixes most problems on the guitar?

the problems are only "problems" because most guitar techs don't know how to properly set them up.

I think the upgrades to the MIM make it better than the MIA ! And $700 less! But I need to try out the MIM before I stand by that. 😁

To be fair, Aug is right again. A few hours with your CIJ Jag and the correct information on your monitor will have it as good as anything. Besides its a matter of taste, some people like the old feel and traditions.

Personally i think the MIM models are an excellent addition to the range. Even though the Jag is a great guitar as it is i do like the idea of jumbo frets and humbuckers.

What music do you intend to play and equipment will you use with the Jaguar? Its important and this is why Fender have given extra options.

When you say larger frets, are you referring to the neck scale? I thought that was still 24".

Well, I discovered this site being a Nirvana-fan so, yeah... I'm more into that type of music than what the Jaguar was intended to, surf, jazz and stuff like that. I like it distorted with other words.

My equipment at the moment isn't much to brag about. I only have a little Hiwatt amp and a DS-2 pedal. Well, I guess I will buy a new amp in the near future, but I'm more eager to get a Jaguar at the moment.

Also, has ANYONE even tried this guitar yet? I would love some response on how it plays...

Thought so. I can tell you now, get an EHX Big Muff or RAT and you wont know whether your using single coils or humbuckers. In fact singles sound better AND either of them two pedals will closely give you the sound your looking for.

well the hh jag is similar to kurt's, although i am not a fan of his. He had a tune-o-matix on his, the adjusto-matic is bacically the same thing but with fender spacing, and humbuckers in his, although they werent fender, that is easily fixed

Now, I only have one question left; out from the specifications on the Jag, and from what music I like to play, do you suggest this as my first Jaguar ever? I'm really excited about this now, and I might actually buy one today...
