There are some variables but if it was just like the standard reissue, single color but with hand-wound pickups, it would be probably be about $1200 dollars maybe a little more. However, I am not really into building them commercially. I build classical and acoustic as well but am fascinated with Leo's early work.
I am mostly into reproducing and making specialized pickups for vintage instruments. Also, I custom tint and mix luthier grade true nitro lacquers in authentic colors (not spray cans (although I can have them made too) but for HVLP spray guns). I have sold a lot of other types of guitars in the past (12-20 per year). My feeling is a hand made jazzy with hand wounds is going to be a lot like a custom shop quality and not your std reissue that isn't even setup carefully when you receive it.
There are lots of luthiers, so I was just wondering in general why so many people buy production Fender as well as production commercial knock offs rather than something special and made to fit your playing needs.
The thing is, I have never made one that didn't have something extra like figured maple neck, old growth stacked/dried alder with the slab cut just right (even one piece when I can), over-wound pickups, various Alnico magnet choices, dyed pup covers and trem rod ends to look correctly aged, various fingerboard radii for those who don't like the small radii standard, jumbo frets etc.
