MIJ or MIM ?? - after the usual kudrtz copy...

Hi people,

I am new again here, I used to have a login years ago and made the occasional post but cannot remember what my login was, those were back in the days of dreaming of a jag-stang. Well, I got one of those when they re-issued it and its mint and my baby, but i'll save that for another post.

I am now hankering after a Jaguar, and I want to go down the two humbucker path.

so.

My question is what would make the better guitar, not the 'easiest' option.

A) Fender Classic Player Jaguar SP. HH and swap out the electrics.

they sound like they are pretty well made.

otherise you would be looking at getting a used jap for about 200 less than a new mexican BUT~! you would be paying 200+ for new pups and someone to customize it for you.

and for the love of god do not get an american jaguar and put humbuckers in it.

sounds like the jap is coming through as a winner, should be fun making room for the new pups!

bearing in mind i do not have a router, how easy/difficult is it to enlarge the pickup spaces?

what about the scratchplate?

Unless you wanna make a right mess, you can only use a router to fit the humbuckers.

I've seen some right retards on various sites who have used a hammer and a chisel, and it looks really bad. Yeah it's covered by the scratchplate, but you need to do the scratchplate too. If you're gonna do it, do it properly and route them.

if you want a cobain copy youll need a tuneomatic too... which is one of the features of MIM. oh and some electrical tape.

Already knew about the bridge, its on my list!

Picked it up earlier and its lush, have to wait till tonight till i can plug it in, still thinking of how i can tell her indoors... ☹
