Does anyone know where I can get Jazzmaster plans or templates?

theres templates currently on e-bay.

or you could make them yourself. but you'd need to trace actual jazzmaster stuff and things.

as for plans, there's a building diagram here. but no measurements or anything. just an assembly schematic really:

Hi,

I've seen the templates from guitartemplates.com, has anyone used them? Thanks for that diagram Rick, lotsa info there. I want to make a jazzmater with the block inlays (built a few guitars, never did inlay), any suggestions for color combinations? I'm thinking of an ebony fretboard, but I'm open to any other suggestions.

My Ovation has an ebony fretboard with small inlays...I love it.

That ebony is way lighter than on guitars I've seen. Do some manufacturers stain ebony?

Yep, they usually dye ebony, stew-mac sells a fingerboard dye. Most ebony isn't pure black.

Well, it's a 26 year old guitar...and on the upper part of the fretboard, you can see where it's been worn through and the stain is weak. I like it. 😁

Cool. I was just curious. The only ebony boards I've seen were very dark.

my bestest guess would be ebony-stained rosewood. not sure though...

some ebony is darker than other ebony. just like rosewood.

Yep, some ebony is lighter than others....

it's also a real pain to work with ebony, because it can break table saw blades in a very short time!
