you'd honestly put a laney anywhere near a 'dream rig'? they're ok, even pretty good, but if you want el84 tone I'd rather have a mesa lonestar special, a vintage vox ac30 or a new blackstar a30 for a start!

I'm currently building my dream rig, I just need to round off the pedals (of which there are a lot more than you have given me space for, but I'm including all of them anyway 😛 ):

Gibson SG (Bare Knuckle Riff Raff in bridge, Lace Sensor Gold/Gold Dually in neck w/ coil-split, heavily modified tailpiece setup which takes too long to explain)

1967 Selmer Treble'n'Bass 50 Mk3 head, homemade 2x12 cab with Celestion Rockdriver Pro speakers.

I'm also working on an elaborate channelswitching system whereby I can run into either one channel of the amp, run both at once, or bypass all my pedals with one or the other (i.e. run a clean signal and one full of overdrive or whatever both at once).

Of that I have yet to purchase:

- EH Frequency Analyser

- MXR Rocker 90

- SD Shapeshifter

- Akai Headrush

- Lace Sensor neck pickup

-Tonebone switchbox (which is the one remaining component required for the channelswitching thing)

I also need the amp fixed, but at least I actually own that. 😁

im actually kind of close to my dream rig too. my amp is there. its a mesa pre amp/poweramp into a 4x12. i really like my pedals, just some more OD/distortions to have my options, such as rat or tech 21 classic. and the jag and im there.

well, i cant hold on to any money i ever obtain, haha if i see something cool i spend it, so as for my dream rig, it would never happen, but if i did i wouldnt know what i would want anyway haha 😁

Well, basically I spent a sleepless night trying to come up with ways of getting more sustain out of the guitar, and what I ended up doing was get an Epiphone Casino tailpiece and attaching that. I then put the stopbar tailpiece back on, but backwards (i.e. hooking onto the posts pointing toward the strap-pin instead of the bridge). The strings thread into the Casino tailpiece, and go through the stopbar, and the break angle of the strings between that and the bridge pushes the stopbar back toward the strap-pin (hence it being on backwards). So basically I have way more string/ body contact and a lot more tension through all the metal parts as well as much of the back end of the body.

I dunno if the description makes a whole lot of sense but I don't have a picture of the guitar in its current setup. 😕

so the tailpiece is trying to flip over, but being stopped by the posts? that could do some damage, no? what gauge strings are you using? i use almost the exact same method on my jagHH (black one with tuneomatic bridge + tailpiece) but with the tailpiece facing the right way, only upside down, so the string pass under the rounded side. the first time i did it they passed under the flat side and one broke in like 5 days.

No, I think you've misunderstood me. The stopbar could be put on the correct way round, but then the strings aren't actually pulling on it (because they're pulling on the Casino tailpiece instead, i.e. this: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/images/large/TP-0412-010.jpg) so it could slide off the posts and put me out of tune, and was ultimately a bit pointless. Put on backwards, the tension caused by the angle of the strings coming down from the bridge to the tailpiece pushes it back into the posts, in much the same way it would be if it were set up normally, just the other way round.

The overall effect is similar to putting a buzzstop on a Jag. More contact points, increased break angle to the bridge.

Also I use 10-52s.

I used to be into jags and stuff and I had a cyclone a few years back. I was hanging around when TimHulio was postin here and he got me on a big vintage hagstrom kick. Hagstroms have super thin fast necks but have gotten really pricey in the last few years and i didnt want to put humbuckers in a vintage hagstrom. So i got an 89' rg-550 (its got a wizard neck with big frets and a slim neck) and wouldnt have any other brand. I still like readin and seeing jags though...
