Music Master/Mustang Setup

I have a early 70's Musicmaster that I started working on customizing it to a mustangs setup. I wanted to add a tele bridge pickup with a Antigua Mustang Neck but I dont know if i need the capacitor or even the plates on that the pickup was originally grounded on.

Do I need the capacitor or even the 'copper?' plates under the pickups?

The copper under the pickups will help the shielding from buzz, especially with single coils which are noisy things.

But I couldn't tell you about the capacitor...

Well I have seen the seymour duncan diagrams and it says it needs a capacitor for the tone pot but is that really necessary?

well, actually without the capacitor the pot will work either like a volume knob, or it will not work at all. The capacitor is needed to cut the high frequencies, that's why the sound gets deep when you turn the tone pot all the way down. Also you can omit the tone pot and make seperate volume for each pickup, or have one master volume and on "blend knob". Depends on what you want.

EDIT: Does it matter what the value is on the capacitor for my original set up its .05 but the closest i have found to that is .047 the next is .1 will that change anything?

I dont think it will matter that much. .047 is a typical value for a gutiar with single coil i think , but i may be wrong.

The .05 and .047 one are the same, you won't notice any difference.

If you thought that your sound sounded "muddy", "dark" or like there was some sort of low filter on there before, order a .022, it will cleanse your sound and give you more highs.

The .01 caps are quite trebley and biting.
