Rofflez. I'm beginning to wonder if your mad, eccentric or suffer severe boredom. You could do with buying a cheap Jag or even better a Jagmaster, so you can use it as a 'test bed' for all your ideas.

I've never played a HHH, but I hear it's more of a gimmick then an improvement (correct me if I'm wrong?)

youre not wrong, an absolute gimmick on guitars like the black beauty with three of the same pickups, but then why isnt SSS considered a gimmick? id have three different pickups anyway

Hey Nigel, why don't you take a violin up on stage with you, so while you're wailing on your three bucker Jaguar, you could knock out a noise jam on the violin with your feet.

personally i think that putting three humbuckers on a guitar takes away its beauty

i couldnt care less, i want it to sound good, and have a huge variety of sounds

^ then try using more guitars - for each sound there's a suitable guitar for it. but that's only my opinion.

but from what ive read wood doesnt affect tone that much, its mostly pickups and amp

I've given the HHH idea some thought, then I played a Les Paul Custom with 3 pickups, and I decided that is WAY too many coils for one guitar for my taste. The middle pickup on those is more of a hindrance than a help for my style.

seems to me that all it would add would be volume, and the advantage you could gain in volume would probably be offset by a really muddy one-dimensional tone. i think the reason SSS works and HHH doesn't is that single coils bring a more subtle, fluid tone--one that changes drastically depending on which setting you have the configuration on. the advantage of humbuckers is their thickness, but at the cost of subtlety.

again, with three totally different pickups (p-rails, HFH, and pearly gates) it would add volume and versatility. and with two trebley pickups like the HFH and pearly gates, and a tone bypass, all of them in series wont be THAT bassy. besides, i usually like my dirty tones to sound ####ty clean.

then by all means... i think it would fit, but if it doesn't i would think that you could just route out an extra 1/4" on the neck end and on the bridge end with no problems.

what about getting a jag baritone body? this may be an even crazier idea than putting HHH into a jag--and i guess the finished product wouldn't have a 24" scale--but i believe the body is longer than a regular jag's and would give you the space to need.
