hot rails and pots

i'm thinking about buying a hot rails for my 65 reissue stang, and it has the stock pots in it, and i was wondering if i bought a hot rails would i have to switch to 500k pots or can i leave them stock?

you could leave them stock. its all preference. i put a hot rails in my 69 RI and i really was unsatisfied with it until i put in 500k's and a .022 cap. but thats me. id say try it with the 250's and then decide if you want to swap

thanks man, ill try it, i like the sound i have now i just want a little more humbucker sound to it.

i just put hot rails in the bridge of that yellow stang, and i think it sounds great, but im sure it would sound superb with the 500k pots

I've kept the 250k pots in my Mustang after putting a 'bucker in it. I think it sounds fab.

500k pots are to 250k pots as 1M pots are to 500k pots. if you want more treble from a 250k pot, why not go 1M?

I would'nt bother. 500k is plenty, i have a 1965 parts 'Stang with 500k pots, i put a hotrail in the bridge and it sonds kool.

Imo 1meg pots are for Les Pauls and EMG systems. The Mustang is a naturally trebly sounding guitar anyways.

Heres a little vid to demonstrate the tonez, camera distortion screws it up a bit but i'm playing an Ozzy Osbourne song which obviously requires some beefy tones...

Btw, what if you have 500k for volume and 250k on the tone?

very similar to 250k on both but with slightly higher output. volume should always be 1M really, as it mainly affects output, tone value is where the differences are
