Who likes feedback and who doesn't?

I personally like feedback. I can produce different "tones' and tinker and toy around with it, to make neat sounds and stuff. 😁

i toyed around with the neck pickup in my les paul and now when i switch to it without playing it screams

really depends on what music your playing as i sometimes use that screaming pickup when im going from a quiet bridge into a loud chorus

I would like feedback if I knew how to make it sound different. With my amp, if I go near it at a loud volume it just screeches. I want to know how Nirvana did it with all those cool sounds, where it was less of a high pitched screech and more of a lawnmower sound (see the end of Live And Loud).

I like feedback. It can be manipulated in awesome ways for some pretty crazy effects.

that is drop d tuning through a boss ds-1 and letting the low d reverberate while silencing the other strings.

if you can't sound like cobain with a ds-1 and sloppy power chords....it's time to find a new remedial idol!

I like turining on my distortion and then turning on my Small Clone.

Now THATS screaming.

Feedback also provides a good transition from clean/quiet to raunchy/loud in songs.

I don't think that dynamic could work unless you had some sort of transition like feedback, a guitar build up with a drum thing finishing the crescendo, or what I like to do is right before if becomes loud, to turn my distortion on and rip up the low e-string to about the 12th fret and then bend it, come off all strings and strum a little and then come in with the actual chords.

But thats just me. 😆

My different feedback tones:

Stand really close to your amp- screech

Boss Metalcore on my dirty channel (really a clean channel with gain @max)- slight feedback

Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Silicon Fuzzface into Boss Metalcore- screech with slight fuzz

Fuzzface into Metalcore on dirty channel- loud screech with slight fuzz and tons of static

Fuzzface into Metalcore on dirty channel with wah- pure audio chaos

These are the only 4 effects I use (dirty channel, wah, metalcore, fuzzface). My rig pretty much revolves around the ability to generate feedback. I love the little feedback I love it good.

i've got some cheap danelectro pedal (t-bone distortion?) someone gave me cause all the knobs are snapped off. as soon as i turn it on its instant feedback. by itself, its too high-pitched and unmanagable but in combination with an effect or distortion i can shape it and use it to my own ends. it sounds like having lightning on a leash haha

What I do is take the cord from my guitar and put it just inside the "Speaker" or "Headphone" input on my amp, then tweak the EQ to get this fascinating "WooooooooWAAAAAHwow wow wow WUMPwumpWump weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeOOOOOOOOOOOooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwAAAAAAAAAAheeeeeeeee."

I also like simply leaning the guitar up against the amp to get this lengthened sustain-type effect...

what amp are you trying to destroy when you do these retarted things? 😆 i might do that to a squier or line 6 or something, but not anything i wanted to remain in working condition 😆

I use a Crate BT-10 combo amp... Its all chill, I'm not actually destroying the amp, and I can get the same sound by just putting my guitar up against it or using my FG (a pickup with volume and 2 tone knobs that I tweak to generate feedback)...
