I went to the ye ole music shop the other day and found one of these sitting around and decided to give it a go.
specs CAr with matching, blocks, no binding, active electronics, jag setup and jaz configuration.
Pros
1. loved the feel and the look of it
2. tones were crazy and it punched really vibrantly
3. very smooth player, neck was fantastic.
cons
1.price the store wanted 1,099.00 which is more that the list as i remember
2. the rythm slides are both tones and the lead pots are both volumes with is confusing for a bit.
3.to me, it didn;t look right without binding. i figure if its gonna have blocks, its gotta hacve binding.
4. did i mention the price.
all and all its a nice bass. i would get it if it came in a diff color, had binding and was about 500.00 even im not so sure i liked that way that all the tone selection was laid out. cuz there were technically 3 tone switches for each pickup which seemed redicuos to me. and the guy working there didn;t know a damn thing about it. he was its exactly like the jaguar with the two tones up top. i corrected him by saying that the top bout was the rythm section, and he butted in with, only on the japs. when i told him i had an av he got defensive like he was supposed to know everything more than an owner would. very frustrating when you get in contact with these people.
