A few years ago I owned a fairly crummy Cimar guitar, and I was wondering if anyone out there would be able to help identify the model...
I'll describe the details as best as I can remember...
Strat-shaped body, but with 'sharper' horns. The body was an ugly cream color when I owned it. It was probably closer to white once upon a time.
Black pickups, HSS, no scratchplate. The volume and tone knobs were kind of Telecaster-style. I don't remeber how many knobs it had, but it was either 2 or 3. Only one of them worked, anyway. Strat-style 5-way pickup selector.
Rosewood fretboard (22 frets, from memory). Bolt-on neck.
Strat-style floating trem (with sharp bridge saddles that resulted in many broken strings).
I don't remeber if the headstock said simply 'Cimar', or 'Cimar by Ibanez'. I think it was probably the former.
I don't know what Cimar's are usually like, but this one was pretty bad, even for a second-hander. Sharp bridge saddles and frets, and 3 pups with no distinctive tone to speak of. Just quiet, flat, and murky. Still, I am curious to know if anyone can help. Thanks. 😀
