That's the gayest piece of information i've ever seen in my life!
When you veneer something, you put a nice piece of wood over a ugly piece, fact, which is basically what installing a fretboard is. The shape of the bottom of it doesn't really matter, although the flat bottom ones are of course alot easier to make, and you know you'll have a consistent gluing surface.
When you said your fretboard was veneer, that to me meant that they took the maple neck, stuck an ugly piece of rosewood onto it, and then a thin piece of nice looking wood on top of the ugly piece.
