Finally, I'm Getting One!

I'm finally getting a Mustang! 😁 I bid on some before on eBay and was disappointed when I lost them at the last minute, and since sonic blue ones don't crop up on there very often, I finally bid on one I'd been watching last night.

It's sonic blue with the red tortoise shell pickguard (though the listing said daphne blue, but I'm pretty certain it wasn't

It's a '65 reissue I think

'65 RIs don't have body contours, the have white tuning buttons and have the sctatchplate "gap" (between the scratchplate and control plate). They come in Daphine blue, Olympic white and Dakota red.

'69 RIs (like mine) do have contours, with metal tuning buttons. No scratchplate "gap" and only came in Vintage white and Sonic blue.

oh and the headstock decals are slightly different...

Yeah, I'm getting one like that picture two places above, except the pickguard looks a lot less red and more dark. Looks like the seller maybe didn't know much about it, because it was listed as a '65 reissue but has no gap in between the pickguard and control plate, and the tuning buttons are shiny metal. Woo hoo!

nice one! that first one is pretty damn cheap...

But it'll likely be a while before I get my next Mustang... what with lack of funds and lack of job at the moment ☹ ... and also too many guitars as it is!

Gorgeous mustang, congratulations! I always wanted a Sonic Blue Mustang but when the 69's came out I rushed and just bought a vintage white instead of looking big mistake 😆

Thats a lot, but hey i bet its worth it to you, thats all that matters.Looks really good. mine had the brown tort and i didnt really like it so got Aug to make me a red tort and i love it. i also put a hotrails, and judging from your love of nirvana youll want a bucker in there eventually.

I'll see how it goes. At the moment I'm just looking forward to getting my Mustang! 😀 I wouldn't know how to route or fit a humbucker, and I don't think anyone else local would either.

thats why they make single sized hubuckers. dont need to route

Well I'd mess it up. I'll probably leave it stock and maybe replace the pickguard, then get a full-sized humbucker if I ever start a band and would prefer a different sound. I haven't even got it yet, so I won't think about that.

Cool stang congrats. I remember seeing it on ebay. 😁

Anyways if you don't know how to route it you can pay someonne like 60 bucks to do it, but you have to buy the pickup seperately. Good luck.
