im aware of modest mouse using power chords and boss effects. in the early days brock tones were ####. he almost always used a bd-2. then again, thats a large part of what gave their early albums its raw, garage band, low-fi sound. i didnt know about the metal zone, i dont think ive heard many parts distorted enough for it to be used, that surprises me. also yes, they occasionally use power chords. allot is a stretch. iknow in dramamine they used power chords. at the end. mind pointing out some songs where they use powechords? if anyone could convince me to love powerchords it would be them. also, i dont think he uses a bd-2 now. i dont spend much time researching his gear, but i know he plays through lots and lots of super 6's which are essentially fender twins with a mid boost, 6x10 configuration, and a master volume, which is what leads me to think he doesnt play through a bd-2. he uses a super duper 2-in-1 for dirt/boost and a few dd-6's. thats all i know about his rig with the exception of his guitars.
also, isaac brock is HARDLY the authority on guitar tone. (although with his sound on his latest album, he might soon become one. i cant be made to believe he used a bd-2 for those sounds.) and to add on to what i said about his lo-fi vibe, listen to i came as a rat on varon bon bull####. its one of the ####tiest tones ive ever heard, but it fits PERFECTLY in the song. especially the improv bit at the end.
by the way he uses some sort of weird fuzz, (maybe devi ever, but i think its the fuzz factory) on the intro to fly trapped in a jar. i think its a fuzz factory because he uses the zvex super duper.
