i recently got back on the jaguar train with my recent CIJ revamp (refinish, new saddles, buzzstop, pickguard, and pups, i'll put pics up soon), and just tried them out. now i am playing through a fender champ 600 and zvex box of rock, and the sounds on these pickups are pretty...well, muddy. they sure as hell handle overdrive better than the ole jap pickups, but the neck pickup sounds like the tone is rolled way off-little to no clarity. and the bridge unit is ok, but still quite muddy. they sound what i expected them to with the choke switch on too, so i'm thinking i either bought the wrong pickups for me or installed them wrong. which way do the pickups sit in the cavity, if it matters at all? mine are with the black (ground) wire on the bass side of the guit.
