they are just a bit wider than normal ones, so that the pole pieces are in line with the stings at the bridge position with fender guitars. I don't see the point really, I have had plenty of normally spaced humbuckers with fenders, fat strats generally come stock with them, and they sound fine to me. Also jag-stangs have slanted bridge pickups so I really, really don't see the point there.
