How big?

Ok, here's a question I've been wondering about for a while, because I have yet to measure any of these guitars:

How long (the whole guitar(in inches)) is a Jazzmaster, a Jaguar, and a Mustang?

I know this has probably been asked before, but can some one help me out?

The mustang is approx. 39 1/2 inches. a jag-jazzy is approx 40 inches.

Why on earth do you even want to know? If you were inquiring about scale lengths, I can understand that, but the overall length? This makes no sense. 😕

and I was wondering if the Jazz was larger than a Jag.

The Jazzmaster is 38" and the Jaguar and Mustang are shorter.

hmm...this can't be right.

I just measured my 22.5" scale mustang and it's 38 1/4" from the top of the headstock to the bottom strap button. 😕

Surely, the Jaguar and Jazzmaster lengths can't be right...

My Batwing is 42" and I can't find a case for it anywhere. So yes, length matters.

can't you just buy a hardcase for a bass, then?

he could do that but it probably wouldnt be the best of fit.

1965 Jaguar (well maybe '64, Oct. '64 neck date) is 38 & 5/8" from the tip

of the headstock to the end of the body( measured at the strap button, but

not including it).

Yeah, but there's still a gap. Bass cases are too big, generally, and guitars are too small. I'm keeping an eye out for a shortscale bass case with an internal length of around 44" or something, that should be pretty snug. For now, though, there are some heavy duty gig bags that do the job just as well (although even some of them don't fit).

I'm thinking about purchasing a bass-sized flight case for my Jag-Stang, yanno...the ones where you cut the foam to custom fit your guitar, and using the extra space for effects.
