Hey guys
ive been having a read through the forums, looking at peoples setups what people are recommending as good modifications to these great looking guitars
after reading as much as i can, i want to put up what the setup i would like to run and basically any comments and the easiest/best way to do things, im not scared of paying for decent parts etc
What i want is a real simple setup, the tremelo and floating bridge i want all gone, i dont use a whammy bar, so really i want fixed bridge and no tremolo, is there a bolt on setup like that i can use on the jagstang, or should i just loosen the spring tension (or is there a way of taking the springs out) and then wrap the posts for the bridge so they sit tighly in the holes in the body
pickups, in reality, i would like this thing to sound like a tele,i want a bit of punch on the bridge pickup, i'll be playing rock.hard rock with it, so using the distortion channel a fair bit lots of people go for the JB, that also seems like a good option also, then im after a nice clean sound on the neck pickup but something with enough volume to balance against the bridge pickup.
I have soldering experience, so i'll be happy using the schematic to wire it up, it seems like most here recommend changing the capacitor on the pots to .22, do most people also upgrade the pots too, or is the capacitor deemed enough of a fix
the last thing i want is to not use the slide switches at all, what i'd like is to just have a 2 position toggle switch for either bridge or pickup, i never use both pickups at once, has anyone done this, or is it too hard and im better off using the digram and wiring up one switch to flick between the pickups
sorry i know this is a lot of help im asking for and i know a lot of it is up to personal preference, but as i say, basically, im after the tele sound, but in the look of the jagstang cos at least not many other people have one
