Ibanez has been doing reissues lately with the Rg550 and jem777. They only do 1,987 of them because of the year they were introduced, 1987. So the Rg550 had 3 colors with 662 made of each plus the one extra in black.

Anyway i thought this was a cool market strategy for the collector types. Anyone heard of any other brands doing similar things?

Besides, I don't really want to go on a quest of correcting people every itme they call a vibrato bar a 'tremolo bar'.

Sorry, don't pay any attention to me, just having a down week (both my guitars are in the shop. a week and a half seems awfully long to do a basic setup).

I just got a bit stroppy when I was called up on some innocent slang. I didn't realise that it was so offensive.

I visit this site BECAUSE it is about the appreciation of the sound and artistry of the instruments, so I agree with the sentiment there. But calling a guitar an 'axe' should not suggest that I view the guitar as some sort of macho hardware, and I didn't care for the inference that that is how I think.

Anyway, sorry Melvin-Man, sorry tragictravisty, and sorry to anyone else I might have ticked off. I'll try to eliminate slang from my vocalulary in the future.

Not a problem, I've only heard of two of those things, and I have no love for either of them, so it's all cool by me

Let me explain the other two then.

finger tapping is where instead of using a pick you tap your fingers on the fretboard and then you can play 80's metal while blow drying your mullet.

courtney love was married to cobain but then killed him.

I think they look disgusting. If you wanted a guitar that was all one colour, why not get a big pot of paint and a really really big paint brush?

How a guitar looks never enters into my mind. If it did, I never would have bought my Telecaster, or even remotely considered a Squier Duo-Sonic, which has one of the ugliest color-schemes in the history of the universe.

It's all about the sound to me.

But yeah, that Ibanez looks like the Cimar I used to own, except the Cimar was an ugly eggshell-white colour. Really yuck.

Yeah, I don't usually consider the colour or anything, but those truely are tacky looking.

Plus I don't really like the way that those type of Ibani (plural of Ibanez? 😛 ) play.

i agree, ugly as hell. while i tend to agree that i dont care how guitars look, i do to the extent that they have to be low-key. if i really didnt care how guitars look i might have played a flying V or explorer by now to see how they sound. i tried a firebird and it sounded good, but i could never stomach buying that guitar because its flashy and a bitch to play sitting.

i bought a jag because its comfortable, and innovative in terms of electronics. im trying to make it look decent with a jazzy style pickguard and creme and black color scheme. (creme+black=class)

I bought it cause I like the look of it, and it's really nice to play. I don't agree about it being hard to play sitting, cause it seems to fit nicely. But yes, it is flashy. Although I do like people's reactions to it when they see it, mostly "Woooooooooooooo, what's that?"

However, I am verging on thinking of selling it. Not made my mind up yet whether it's really my style or not...
