I'm not too sure about the strat. Main thing about them is that the necks bother me. I have VERY small hands (but still strong) and I remember that when I was getting lessons my teacher would always give me either a Fernandez strat copy or Fernandez tele copy to play on, and I was always hanging to be given the tele, purely because of the feel of the neck.
Thing is I love the clean strat sound, and if I have to I could always put a tele neck on a strat. I like the look of strats too, I think they just look classic and iconic.
But yeah, I think I would rather save and get a genuine Fender (even though I would count the Jagmaster as a genuine Fender and I know many others do too), and I find Mustangs to be very intriguing, mainly in the sound, the size, and the vibrato setup. VERY different to the heavy tele and Jagmaster I own.
I don't need to think about it for ages anyway 😀
One question about the affinity strat...
How is the neck, as in, what kind of finish? I need all the help I can get when I play, and I'm learning that necks are probably the biggest factor in my speed and accuracy. Maybe this is true of most people, I dunno. But I played a Fender re-issie strat (a '62, I think) at the store the other day and the neck had a ridiculously heavy gloss finish, and my hand just stuck to it. I briefly played an affinity strat the same day, and I think it had a lighter gloss finish. Great fingerboard too, like a deep marbled maroon color. Very odd.
Anyway, as usual I have typed way more than I should have. Just in a great mood tonite 😀
