I know I might cop some flack for this, but can someone explain the diffence in the body shapes between the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar?

The reason I ask is that I just got my Jagmaster, and in doing my research, I often come across the phrase "Jazzmaster body, Jaguar neck".

The difference in necks between the Jazzy and the Jag is obvious, but as much as I stare at pics of the two guitars, I can't pick any real difference in shape.

there is diference in shape, the only differences you'll see are in the pickguard, pickups, routing and neck

the shape is very similar. just slight things here and there

i think because the neck is a conversion neck. also, big routes.

I have both Jagmaster and Jaguar, the bodies look very similar.

look at the upper horn on a vintage jazz vs. the top horn on a vintage jag, you will notice the most difference there.

I think I see a slight diff. The horn on the Jaguar seems to be a bit longer and 'thinner'

And looking across the room at my Jagmaster, it DOES seem closer to the horn size of the Jazzy.

The vista Jagmasters used Fender Japan Jaguar bodys. Not sure if the new models have changed, i know the trem is further back than the early models though.

I've had Jazzmasters and Jaguars, if you put them side by side there is a difference.

I don't have a great eye for this, but it seems to me as though the body on my Jagmaster (a 2007 CIC) seems closer to the Jazzmaster than the Jaguar.

Hard to tell without having a Jazzy or Jag close by to compare

Geez... As far as I can tell, the Jaguar, Jazzmaster, the Bass VI, and the Electric XII, all use the same body, with different routing and appointments- I currently own the Jaguar and the Electric XII, and can easily tell that this is so with these two, at least, right now.- I used to own a Jazzmaster that also was of identical outline/shape to the same 12-string. I don`t know about the Jagmaster, but it looks pretty close...

The Bass VI body is bigger and the shape is different.

Thanks for the diagram it really helped alot.

Looking at it that way, one can really see that the differences are subtle, but plentiful 😀
