Hey everyone! Just found this site a few days ago after buying a re-issue Mustang. I found it in a local music store. i went in looking for a 12 string acoustic, and saw the mustang. i'm a big Nirvana fan (even though i play mostly metal and hard rock) and since my other guitars are set up for playing metal, i'd figured i'd buy it.
So i traded in a couple of guitars i dont use and took this home. i immediatly locked the bridge and tail piece, (don't flame me please, I prefer non moving bridges in all my guitars).
I locked the tail piece a little differntly then most people though. i didnt flip it, and instead of washers i used the aluminum spacers used to hold bicycle brake calipers to the frame. they worked good since they have a concave groove in them. a couple of 8mmx100 bolts and some blue loc-tite and the tail peice is nice and secure. i used the electrical tape trick on the bridge. i might eventually add a tune-o-matic but this seems to be fine right now.
anyways, i got a few questions:
First, i can't find anywhere how to decode the serial numbers. mine is P092033. if you guys can tell me how to decode it that would be great. what year re-issue is it? 68 or 69? and how do you know?
also, since i am going to use this mostly for Nirvana songs, how can i get a better Nirvana sond out of it? i'm thinking a JB jr pup i the bridge. what about the neck?
