i few months ago i bought a Jagstang, very nice!

but now i wanna buy a mustang.

is it strange to buy another guitar so soon?

nope. i bought my mustang last week, and right now i'm in the process of getting 2 more guitars a 12 string acoustic and another les paul. but the mustang wasnt planned, i just happen to see it in the store while looking for the other 2.

If you've got the money and want it, I don't see why not! I wouldn't buy two guitars in such quick succession myself, but I just got a Mustang and it's the best guitar I've ever played, so you should be happy on that front if you make the plunge!

personally i would say yes, but thats cause im not a collector and not rich. there are plenty parts of my rig which i would focus on before a new guitar. also, you can get mustang sounds quite easily out of a jag-stang by geting a splittable bridge pup. if i buy a new guitar its because im looking for a new sound. the mustang wont provide that unless you bastardize one of your guitars.

thats the point. also are you more concerned with sound, style, or NEW GUITAR!? if you have a few hundred dollars to spend, and youre concerned about your sound think about your amp, guitar, and pedal board. (in that order). and personally i would get some great pickups with that money if i was putting it in a guitar.

As long as it plays well then I'm happy. It can be made to sound good later, if need be.

I was flush with funds about a month ago and I put a Jagmaster on layby, then ended up buying a Squier Telecaster 2 days later, then paying the Jagmaster off 3 weeks later. As someone else said, if you can spend the money with out regret, why not.

But by asking others, it sounds like you have doubts about the purchase. And my opinion is that if you have doubts, save your money and wait.

I would invest in a good valve amp. That's probably what I'll be getting next...

I have a Marshall MG10. It's a good amp, but not great.

You have a Jagstang which is a good guitar, and you have an Epiphone SG, which is also a good guitar. IF you buy a Mustang, you will have a VERY good guitar, and you will be playing it through a very cheap amp.

I have a Jagmaster and a Squire Telecaster, and I find they both sound the same through the MG10, and this SHOULD NOT be the case.

Let the Mustang wait. Spend the money on a good amp, and you might find the Jagstang is good enough that you might feel you don't even need a Mustang anymore 😀

it depends what MG series it is

my MG30DFX sounds good and the only reason i might need to upgrade it is for volume

I actually didn't realise that.

My amp is an MG10, definitely one of the cheaper ones. It's not a bad amp for what I use it for, but it isn't very versatile.

Yes, there are some big MG series Marshalls, but Marshalls aren't great. Not solid state ones anyway (like the MGs). No, what you want is a good valve amp. Valve Marshalls are pretty good, but I'd aim for a good Hiwatt or Orange. Also Fender make very good tube amps.

Personally I'd stay away from mushy Marshall solid states. 😉

sounds like you got G.A.S (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) I know players who go on buying sprees when they have a serious G.A.S attack and usually they are happy in the end some arent but thats the breaks! Anyone I would hold the G.A.S till you get a really nice amp might I recommend an Orange!

yeah, i played wants on a Orange, i love the sound of that amp.

but he's very expensive.

maybe i just have to save more money. 😎
