I saw one recently in a store for about $1100 Cdn. It's since been sold, but I don't know what it went for--that price seemed steep to me.
It was a little beat up--and had checking on the headstock.
It also had the tone pot replaced by a toggle switch--the guy in the store didn't know what it was for.
It was a 78 & brown with black pickup. Sorry to anyone who likes those, but I found them very ugly.
It was actually the "twin" to my Mustang. I have the sunburst body--at the store I bought it at they had a sunburst with a maple fingerboard, and a brown one with maple fingerboard--they were the same except for the fingerboard & the finish. I wasn't sure which to get--if either--as I prefer rosewood over maple. So the store offered to swap the necks and they got a sale.
If you can get it for $400--you're doing well, depending what you mean by "quite poor condition." If it's playable--that's a very good price. If it needs major work--I'd try to get it for less--depending on how much of the work you could do yourself.
