New here :-) hello all and Jagmaster....

Oh , thats weird . i was going on the information in another thread that any strat neck would fit my jagmaster body. if i was using a squier super sonic neck on my jagmaster i guess i would have this problem because it is a shortscale guitar but i didnt think the jagmaster was.

Will have to have a further look into it , thanks for the advice 😎

jag-master neck is a 25.5 -> 24 conversion if i remember correctly. therefore its a 25.5 neck, and a strat neck will do just fine (as long as its japanese)

it depends on the year it was made

they were only 25.5 from 2002 till 2005

now theyre 24"

I just whipped out the tape measure...

The neck of my Tele (nut to heel) was about 18.5"

The neck of the Jagmaster (nut to heel) was about 17.25"

I hope this info helps.

By the way, my Jagmaster is an '07 CIC

edit: I also just measured distance from neck heel to bridge saddle (high E) on each guitar. The distance on the Tele was about 7.3", and the distance on the Jagmaster was 6.8".

So yeah, I think putting a 25.5" scale neck on a Jagmaster would make tuning impossibe...

What's the pickup, it is from a thinline Tele? And how does the whole thing sound?

Thanks man , this will give me something to investigate before making any changes haha. i noticed in Frans jagmaster project thread that he used a right handed squier strat neck on his jagmaster body he bought.. i guess using a lefty to achive the reversed headstock effect may complicate matters further.. unless i can find a lefty jagmaster neck LOL.

I was looking at going to warmoth about a neck for my Squier 51. At the bottom of one of the pages, they have kind of a "incompatibility" section, and Jagmaster is listed simply as "unknown specs"

Still, emailing warmoth about a Jagmaster-spec neck certainly couldn't hurt.

As for finding a Jagmaster lefty neck, I'm not even sure the JM was produced lefty...

the newer jagmasters (since 2005) are 24" scale like ive already said

so their mustang necks should fit

There is gonna be no difference between a lefty and a righty Squier strat neck. Other than the whole reverse headstock business.

Don't Jagmasters have some wierd thing where you can fit either a 25.5 or 24 scale neck on them?

It's possible, but I have no idea. The measurements I took lead me to believe that it wouldn't work. But around here I'm known as a bit of an anti-tech 😉

I read somewhere that they made a coversion neck or something so that they could use the same body... maybe not though, I could have dreamt it 😆

Hey Robbmonster, ever heard of Perry Ormsby of Ormsby Guitars? He lives in your neck of the woods.

The guy makes multiscale guitars, as in you could have one scale length for the bass strings and one for the treble strings, that way you can have more or less tension on either side, cool idea.

I'd love to try them, but i bet they aren't cheap, he reckons he has a 2+ year waiting list!

I've not heard of Ormsby, but I don't keep my ear to the ground that much.

The main luthiers I know in Melbourne are Mace's, Manny's, and another whose name escapes me, but who I am pretty sure is not Ormsby. My 51 is getting modded at Mace's at the moment, and for the time they are taking I hope it's a good job.

I'm still in my learning stages, and I do want to find good reliable techs, because I barely trust myself to change strings 😀

I might find out where Ormsby's is and go take a look...
