anyway, back to blocks and matching headstocks....very f*cking cool.

Too bad blocks remind me of CBS, Clay dots really give the me the OG Jag vibe.

Luckily, MIJ jags > CBS Jags as far as quality goes. At least by the time Japan Jags were mad, Fenders were quality instruments again.

I think blocks and binding is one of the only really cool ideas that came out of the CBS era of Fenders. I know all the purists complain about the lower quality of CBS era and how evil they were, etc. but it makes them look that much cooler to me. I have a 63 Jag-- and I can barely see the dots on the side of the neck. Not too cool on a dark stage.

For me if it looks cool and sounds alright I'm game. I even like the 70's headstock a bit more than the classic 50's headstocks. As much as I love Fender Jaguars, I find a the sunburst finish as dull as dishwater, and the same pretty much goes for dots vs. blocks. Viva la difference.

Yeah the blocks and binding I really like, but I only like it on the Jaguar. Especially the sunburst ones. I wonder if they could just construct a neck, if that'd be cheaper than Warmoth, etc. I'd love to have one on my Jag.
