then the marshall or the peavey will be great. Also, the fender deluxe '85 is fantastic, jonny greenwood (of radiohead) still uses it for his distorted tones: if someone who could use ANY amp he wanted uses it then it can't be that bad at all, plus I know he can fill stadiums with it!
Take your money to a guitar shop tomorrow, you may get more than you think, with the current economic climate companys are just trying to get money in regardless of their profit margins, all I'd say is stay in the 100W region with solid states, anything much lower than 75 might struggle to compete with a drummer.
