What is a C-shape neck, and what other shapes are there?

gibsons have V shaped.

Basically there are V's, C's and U's.

Some guy i speak to came up with a good idea (at least i think it was his idea), and that was to shape a neck so it fits in your hand better. You can picture what it'd look like just by holding your neck in the playing position and seeing how it sits in your hand.

I'd love to try one, but i'd hate to make one to find out that it was really uncomfortable or caused carpal tunnel syndrome or something.

Pretty clear of all neck types Gibsons are defiantly not V shapes trust me I hate the Fender V most uncomfortable neck profile ever!

Sorry those are Gibson profiles, I cant seem to find any fender ones maybe these somewhat correspond, anyone know?

gibsons are U right? fenders are C and then heres the story on V's:

after cream, clapton had nothing to do but play strats all day and jack off. problem was he did it so much, and his dick is so small, his hand became permanently affixed to his dick. the doctors got it off, but it was stuck in a V shape. he tried to play guitar, but just made #### noises. so he called fender and they made him a V neck.

Most Gibson's I've played are the more 60's Oval or Flat Oval, Gibson's are 80million times more comfortable then most die-hard Fender lovers believe them to me.

there are plenty of other shapes. by the way, i like the fender© mobility on electrics, but the comfort of gibson(U) on acoustics

Thats how I roll. I don't very much dig Gibson's electric gtr necks, the just feel bulky and have sharp edges. Fenders are always like butter.

I like whatever profile the Telecaster is, maybe a U, maybe a D.

The Jagmaster has a C, and while I like the neck finish, overall it isn't as comfortable for me as the Tele

edit: byt the way, tragic, good call on Clapton. I don't mean to start a debate, but he is one guitarist everyone seems to think is great, but I just do not see it at all.

Personally I like the Fender V shape. Oh, and 😆😆😆 at Clapton story.

My favourite though is the Mustang, which is the C shape, I think.

I've never played a V-Neck, but it doesn't look comfortable at all. When I see one with a neck like that, I'm going to try it.

It's actually surprisingly comfy. There are V necks on the Mexican '50s Fender Strat. That's how I tried one.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry, should have made it clearer. Although, I have played an actual 50's strat and it had a kinda V neck too. So the reissues are fairly faithful to the originals.
