what type of slides do you use? when i play a metal (aluminum i believe, might be chrome or steel) slide, there is a noticable increase in treble, which sucks when i get up to the really wailing upper frets. what do you use for sustain and either a treble cut or no change in treble at all?

I use a ceramic slide, particular model is the Dunlop Joe Perry Signature Model, I don't notice any additional treble its a very warm sweet sound.

yea, ceramic looks nice. mabey glass. my first one was chrome, actually ive got two of those....

Yeah you'll want a glass slide, its the most 'transparent' sounding but it depends what you're using it for; only a metal one will really give you that piercing lap-steel thing

i have chrome, glass and brass.

its a toss up between the glass and brass, the brass is heavier and so i tend to hit the frets more but it feels more solid and sounds sharper, where as the glass can feel like theres not enough there but it plays a little easier i guess.

I play brass and love it, but I learned slide with a deep well socket, so all others feel waaaaaaaaaay too light for me. 😳

Saw a dude at my housewarming party recently drinking beer from a Corona bottle, and I thought the neck looked perfect for a slide.

I kept that very bottle and am going to cut it soon...

I use a dunlop brass slide primarily, though I somehow managed to take all the bright finish off it and it doesn't work *quite* as well as it used to...maybe this is normal. I have a glass slide as well, it does play faster but the tone is too thin.

cut a piece off of some metal conduit or I use a beer bottle.
