Looking at Musician's Friend, I'm thinking that their new line of amps are the same as the palaminos-- but with black tolex. They are quite inexpensive.

if you buy and EQ pedal... then that just adds to the overall price and it becomes even less of a bargain.
While my experience with Orange amps (an AD-30R 2x12 combo) could best be described as "disappointing and lame," I echo the sentiment of BanditGuitarist1: save up and get a really cool amp. [Obviously some people do great with Orange Amps; I'm just not one of those people] I have made so many regretted purchases over the years of gear that was bought on a whim. If you buy an amp from the prestigious "Crate" label you're probably only going to get .25 cents on the dollar when you sell it back... and invariably you'll get rid of that amp.
Nice amp brands, like Orange, Fender, and Marshall will always be more coveted.
