Fender Mustang 1978 pickups

Hi everyone!

I have a fender mustang 1978 which I would like to replace the original pickups on. I would prefer to get some pickups that would just drop in without any cutting. Im after a warmer sound with a bit more output. Does anyone have any links or names to any UK based companies that sell some different varieties?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

id suggest getting some lace sensors, http://lacemusic.com/electric_pickups/lace_sensor/lace_sensor_specs.php

lots of sounds to choose from and look very similar to the origional pickups

id suggest the red sensor as one of them, very nice warm sound

yea, if i were you i'd get some handwound strat pups. theyre relatively cheap. (relative to humbuckers, and the improvement in sound)

Thanks for the advice so far but Im getting really confused now! I spoke to a seymour duncan supplier and he suggested that the scratch plate would have to be changed slightly to accomodate strat pickups!! Has anyone ever fitted strat pickups into a mustang and had not had to do anything at all apart from just simply screw them in and solder? If they have , which ones did you put in?

It seems to me that the big companies seem to have forgotten about the mustang when it comes to drop in, straight forward modifications.

fralin makes mustang reissues, they wind them the same as their strat pups, you have about 10 different choices. thats what i would do.
