do tele neck pickups need to be used in teles? ie, can i stick a strat pup in the neck?

i think some routing is needed, atleast on the pickguard

Well I know the mim Tele's have the neck routed for a humbucker but the pickguard would have to be routed are maybe some sanding could be done instead.

ask robb, i think they put a strat-PU in his tele.

Well you'll certainly have to either route the scratchplate or get another one ready cut for a strat pickup.

actually now that i raised it up considerably, i dont mind the tone at all cranked with amp treble down low, but up high its got this weird trebley thing going...

Yeah, my tele has a strat-style PU. Routing wasn't needed, except the cover has to left off unless you want to cut the pickguard.

Remembering that my tele is a Squier, so it probably varies from model to model.

But on my tele, the cavity is DEFINITELY large enough to accomodate a strat PU
