Bigsby 5 Tremlo on Jag

Has anyone ever put a Bigsby 5 tremlo on the Jag HH Special (CIJ)?

I've been looking into this.... http://www.vibramate.com/vibramate-v5.html

Looks like it will bolt right up to my HH Special.

Anyone ever see the Bigsby on any Jag?

Thoughts?

It's available now.

You have to buy the Bigsby V seperate from the Vibramount.

It's pretty pricey for the whole package.

I Think it would look really cool on the HH Special, and it's a decent tremlo system.

I'm worried about string breakage at the saddles.......

The HH Special bridge seems to sit pretty high, even with the action low at the neck.

Doesn't seem that to many folks here have experience with this mod on a Jag.

I'm going to use the Bigsby 5 with the Vibramate adapter plate.

The Bigsby tremolo looks so kick ass on every axe I've ever seen it on and it's a high quality system made by a quality company. (I've never actually used any Bigsby system)

I'll replace the bridge with a "Roller Tune-o-matic" and that should eliminate string breaks at the saddle. Looks like price will be around $230 bucks for everything.

Compared to ... I guess the 62 Jag tremolo.

That's the only tem I'm familiar with.

I've never used a Bigsby before. Is is springs or tuning?

its stiff feeling, not very elegant from a playing point of view, in order to get a nice vibrato you have to really work it.

I agree with Bigsbys not being great.

I stuck one on an old SG I have and while it looked great, I didn't find it a great playing experience. You have to put a lot more into getting it going....say if you were after kevin shields like waver then you'd really have to wangle it about some.

But if it's just for the odd vibrato or dive every now and then they're fine great.

But at the end of the day they look cool as ####!

As long as you try out some bigsby guitars you can make up yer own mind innit.

bigsbys cant do dives at all though really, dont have more than one step's range

Yowsers, cheers George, that's a couple of good comments I've had about it now!

Just been learning the songs again as we've got our first gig with this name/line up on the 19th. I write and record the songs at home with my brother.....then never play them again! haha

Hopefully we'll get a couple of full band rehearsals in before hand, but it may only be one.

If you like us you may like the other bands we're playing with, The Keys and Elgoodo, both of them are in our top friends....very psych stuff. They've just finished their second albums which are both blinding. They're both recorded using analogue tape stuff in their own wee studio, also I think they both had some of the super furry animals guys help with mixing and the like.

Yeah cool I will do, I'm a sucker for the psyche/garage sound. I first got turned onto it when I bought a Pebbles boxset on a whim. Truly awesome compilation.

You should definitely push to do live stuff more. I think there's a lot of gigging bands trying to get that 60's/paisely underground sound that are awful so it would be nice to see some bands do it properly. I'd come to the gig as well but I live in Portsmouth, HA!
