nirvana23freak its not the bridge, its the plate below it and the lack of wood, the mute has a plunger thing and youd have to drill thru the plate, right where the springs attach, so it wouldnt work and i dont think theres enough wood there
tragictravisty got it. id just use my palm anyway. maybe if it was extremely high gain i might snap that on, so the notes were cleaner.
harrison i thought about this for a mustang which has the same bridge and tailpiece as the JS, i think the hole could fit between the screw mounts, and would only require drilling through the plate and into the body
nirvana23freak after looking at some pics it might work actually... but on a JS the bucker might be in the way too

feedbackismyfriend why not just palm mute? if you're going to be doing crazy strumming patterns generally you don't want the strings muted and if you want the strings muted you're generally not playing anything too complicated to play while palm muting. There are probably exceptions to this, however; the hardest muting stuff I've ever had to do was some weird Mexican strumming pattern for a song my friend wrote. Even this wasn't really all that hard once I got the hang of it (though getting the hang of it did take some woodshedding for someone like me who spent the first two years of his three year guitar career doing exclusively downpicking). Anyways, all I'm saying is make sure you need it before you try and install one on a js (being the js lover that I am, I get scared everytime anyone talks about doing any extreme mods to one).

feedbackismyfriend Well the end result is cool, but I'd have crapped my pants if someone was doing those mods in front of me.
Aug YES. It IS possible. And *anyone* with the proper drill bits and drill press could do this EASILY.
