so yesterday was christmas, and now ive got the guitar to do whatever i please with. ive been itching to break it down and check out whats going on under the surface. first the neck, after unbolting the neck i look in the neck pocket and almost let out a shreik for help. it is full of bad finish and layers are chipping off and there is poly dust everywhere, also some weird peice of vinyl adhesive acting as a shim i believe. a little dissapointing. then to the cavities, ssh routing, with the bucker route looking to be just a tad too small to actually do any good, oh well i plan on keeping it sss anyway. the cavities are painted matte black with shielding paint it seems. here comes a shock, these guitars are thinner than the real deal but i did not expect to find the next sight. one of the trem claw screws was coming through the body into the pup cavity! not good, then i looked at the electronics, standard looking 5 way but with the smallest pots i have ever seen, will likely be changing them for some cts pots shortly. i didnt expect greatness from this 100 dollar guitar, the buy was based on the neck truly. already soldered a mustang bridge pup in there and im liking the sound. needs new strings because these ones feel like 7s. im satisfied with it as a platform for modification, but its lacking on its own.
