Gash in my guitar help?

hi all, i recently acquired a pretty big gash in the back of my guitar when it hit my chair , about 1 inch long. the wood is exposed and i just do not want the paint to peel over time so i would like to "seal" it.

The finish is white, i don't really mind how it looks, i just don't want the paint to peel or get stuck on anything and really mess up the finish.

any recommendations?

i dont know what to use, but youll want to do some sanding/buffing before you paint to smooth out any damages to the paint. and pics.

, i dont really mind how it looks, i just am worried that the paint might begin peeling around it and it may get stuck on something, making the gash much bigger

i i was thinking maybe a little big of clearcoat or something

it wont "peal" just dont pick at it, it'll be fine.

Purr is right I have a gash on my JS that's probably about 1.5-2 inches long and a little over an inch wide and it hasn't peeled at all in the two months I've had it.
