I could not agree more. That is EXACTLY what they should have done from the start.
Yhey would still be making strats and teles, of course, but they would have far less "series" on offer.
But it would be a dream to me if Squier, rather than being the "budget" brand, became the "student" brand, and the student models, from the Musicmaster onwards, found their rightful place in the world.
Then, of course, I could actually afford the guitars that fascinate me the most 😉
Still, a Squier Mustang could be made on the cheap, just use the strat vibrato (like they did with the Jagmaster) and do away with the phase switching, or (and I don't know if this is possible) work the phase switching into a standard 5-way blade. Dunno.
