Which Strat is better?

I thought I was getting another Telecaster for Christmas. Not the case. I am getting more money to put toward my Cyclone, however.

But this question is about strats. I am wondering which is better, the Fender Standard strat (the cheapest) or the equivalently-priced Squier strat, which might be the deluxe series (I do tend to get lost in the Fender alphabet soup)?

depends on the specific guitar. a mexican is less likely to be crap, but a good squier might be better for the money. when your trying out guitars, pluck a string (or several) and feel different parts of the body, and whether or not they vibrate well. try this on some top end guitars to get the feel.

Get a Squier Classic Vibe Strat. The 60's model is amazing. When I first played it, I fell in love! It was just so playable!

I don't know how much they'd cost over there though... Not too much, I'd imagine...

Got a price in the classic-vibe Duo-Sonic, and that was $650, so I went with the Cyclone instead ($499).

I assume the strats are the same price as the Duo.

Inceidentally, I think the Fender Standard strat retails for about $899
