If you did get a multi-effects pedal I would suggest a Roger Linn Adrenalinn III. Amazing sounds in that one.
It does beat synched filtering, amp modelling, delay, modulation, and drum machines. It even has the option of an add on computer software that lets you edit sounds or use the internal filters to create sounds from the ground up on your PC and then transfer them back to the pedal.
