whstang is my jagstang is worth possible sale

i recently bought a jag stang made in japan not crafted with a Q serial number. it is still in the plastic and is in mint condition and i was wondering what it is worth and am thinking about possibly saleing it any feed back would be great

Nah. I'm guessing its worth about 500-750. Maybe more.

i thought it was worth more than that because ebay prices went for more around 1200 plus i believe that it is a very early model not the reissues and the fact that it has never been owned and is still in the plastic would increase the value

if it says "made" it IS one of the early ones.

I'd say it's worth 750-900, however I'm no appraiser, I just am basing my estimate on the fact that I got my heavily used MIJ JS for about $430, and it was the cheapest I could find one anywhere. I do think people on ebay overbid on items like a jagstang (hence the 1200 pricetag)

i can assure you no one has bid up to 1200 on a jagstang, however people do have them up for "buy it now" at 1200, most original jagstangs go for 500-600, but if yours is MINT then i would say 800-900. this is just based on my 2 year speculation on ebay and craigslist.

Start causing a buzz around other 'stang related forums when you put it up for auction - I can imagine a few collectors will be very interested.

MIJ with a 'Q' serial number? pics?? ...ive only seen CIJ 'Q'

i will be able to put pictures with another posting soon. i currently have the guitar on layway at a local guitar shop and i should have in about a week or so. when i get it i will post pictures of the guitar. im sure that will help people to tell me more information about the guitar. also if any one has any suggestions on how to best store this guitar to keep it from being damaged i would appreciate it. thank you

I believe the CIJ Jags started in 1997 with the 'A' serial number.

Sure, why not... Mine played better than the ONE MIJ I've come across, but it's all a crapshoot from what I hear...

I have a MIJ Jagstang and a CIJ Jagstang and besides the 'worn in' feeling of the MIJ one, i seriously cant tell a difference.

That's pretty much what I keep hearing. The only reason that I say mine played better is because I set up my JS myself to my own personal tastes. I'm sure that I could do the same to the MIJ and it would play just as well. To say that originals or reissues are better or worse doesn't make much sense to me b/c I didn't see anything between the two construction wise that was different, other than the "whiter" pickguard on the CIJ. It all really comes down to whether or not they got a good chuck of basswood for the body and maple/rosewood for the neck and proper routes etc...
